인도 경찰은 수도 뉴델리에서 13일 일련의 폭탄 폭발 사고가 발생해 적어도 18명이 사망하고 수 십명이 부상했다고 밝혔습니다.
인도 당국은 뉴델리 시 전역의 고급 쇼핑가에서 45분 사이에 5건 이상의 폭발 사고가 발생했으며, 60명 이상이 부상했다고 밝혔습니다.
폭탄이 폭발한 지역은 뉴델리의 상업 금융 중심가인 코컷 플레이스(Connaught Place)와 주말 쇼핑객들로 만원을 이룬 칼리샤와 캐롤 박(Karol bagh) 상가입니다.
경찰은 인도의 유명한 기념탑이자 전쟁 기념관인 인도 게이트(India Gate)와 외곽의 한 극장 등에서 4개 이상의 폭탄을 해제했습니다.
만모한 싱 인도 총리는 이번 공격을 비난하고, 뉴델리 시의 시장은 시민들에게 진정을 호소했습니다. 인도 당국은 뉴델리 시 전역에 비상 경계령을 명령했습니다.
이슬람 단체인 인도 무자헤딘은 이날의 공격이 자신들의 소행이라고 주장했습니다.

Police say at least 18 people have been killed and dozens
more injured by a series of blasts in India's capital, New Delhi.
Authorities say at least five explosions took place within 45 minutes of each
other today (Saturday), in major upscale shopping markets in the city.
More than 60 people were wounded.
Two of the blasts occurred in Connaught Place, the city's commercial and
financial hub. Bombs also exploded in New Delhi's Greater Kailash and Karol
Bagh areas, where weekend shoppers crowded the streets.
Police also defused at least four other bombs, including one near India Gate --
a prominent monument and war memorial in the capital -- and another outside a
movie theater.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh condemned the attacks, and New Delhi's
mayor (Aarti Mehra) appealed for calm. Authorities have placed the
country's metropolitan areas on high alert.
An Islamic militant group, Indian Mujahedeen, has claimed responsibility for
today's attacks.
