아프가니스탄동부, 로가르주에서 국제 여성 구호요원 3명과 이들의 운전기사가 무장괴한에 의해 피살됐다고 아프간 당국이 밝혔습니다.
압둘라 와르다크 로가르 주지사는 미국과 캐나다, 아일랜드 국적의 세 여성들이 아프간의 수도 카불 남쪽지역을 차를 타고 지나다 무장괴한의 총격을 받아 사망했다고 밝혔습니다.
사망한 세 여성은 모두 뉴욕에 본부를 둔 국제구조위원회 소속인 것으로 밝혀졌습니다.
외국 구호 요원들을 대상으로 한 최근 몇 년 간의 공격 중 가장 처참한 사례로 묘사되는 이번 공격에 대해 탈레반 측은 자신들의 소행이라고 주장하고 있습니다.

Afghan officials say gunmen have killed three female international aid workers and their Afghan driver in an ambush in eastern Logar province.
Provincial Governor Abdullah Wardak says the International Rescue Committee workers (a British-Canadian, a Canadian and a Trinidadian-American) were traveling by car to Afghanistan's capital of Kabul today (Wednesday), when militants opened fire on their clearly marked convoy (near the town of Pul-e-Alam).
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the killings -- which were described as the bloodiest single attack on foreign humanitarian workers in recent years.
International Rescue Committee President George Rupp said the group is stunned and profoundly saddened by the loss. The IRC provides emergency relief to returning refugees and helps rebuild water, sanitation and the health care system in Afghanistan. After the attack, the group suspended all of its humanitarian aid programs in the country.
