미국과 인도간 핵협정 타결을 위한 핵안전조치협정이 국제 기준에 부합한다고 국제원자력기구가 밝혔습니다.
국제원자력기구 모하마드 앨바라데이 사무총장은 오늘 스위스 제네바에서 시작된 국제원자력기구 이사회에 참석해 이같은 내용을 전했습니다.
미국과 인도간 핵협정은 미국 의회의 비준에 앞서 국제원자력기구와 협상을 마무리하고 핵공급그룹 45개국의 지지도 확보해야 합니다.
미국과의 핵협정이 발효될 경우 인도는 미국으로부터 핵연료를 구입하고 핵기술을 이전 받을 수 있으며 인도는 이에 대한 댓가로 민간원자로에 대한 사찰을 허용해야 합니다.

The head of the United Nations' nuclear watchdog says safeguards for a landmark nuclear cooperation deal between the United States and India meet international requirements.
International Atomic Energy Agency Chief Mohamed ElBaradei made the comment
today (Friday) as the IAEA's board of governors began a meeting in
Geneva.
The IAEA is one of two international agencies that must approve the deal before
it can be ratified by the U.S. Congress.
The agreement would allow the U.S. to sell nuclear fuel and technology to
India. In exchange, India must open its civilian nuclear reactors to
international inspectors.
Officials say the IAEA board of governors is expected to approve the deal
today. It would still need the approval of the 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers
Group.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said the Bush Administration would
do whatever it could to make sure the deal gained final approval.
