이란 언론은 26일 아미디네자드 대통령이 북동부 마샤드시에서 대학 교수들을 상대로 행한 연설에서 이 같이 말했다고 보도했습니다.
이란은 지금까지 주요 핵시설인 나탄즈에서 3천 500개의 원심분리기를 가동중인 것으로 알려져 왔습니다.
아마디네자드 대통령은 지난 4월 이란의 농축 우라늄 능력을 크게 향상시키기 위해 6천개의 새로운 원심분리기를 설치할 계획이라고 발표했었습니다. 고농축 우라늄은 핵무기 제조에 사용될 수 있지만 이란은 이런 핵 프로그램이 전력 가동을 위한 것이라고 말하고 있습니다.

Ahmadinejad says his nation is now operating as many as six thousand uranium
enriching centrifuges.
Iranian media report today (Saturday) the president made the comments in
a speech to professors in the northeastern city of Mashhad.
Iran had been known to be operating 35-hundred uranium-enriching centrifuges at
its main nuclear site in Natanz.
In April, President Ahmadinejad announced plans to install six thousand new
centrifuges, which could significantly boost Iran's ability to enrich uranium.
Highly enriched uranium can be used in nuclear weapons, but Iran says its
nuclear program is to generate electricity.
