무가베 대통령은 취임연설에서 야당에 대해 서로 간의 이견을 좁히고 협력을 강화하기 위해 진지한 대화를 갖자고 촉구했습니다.
야당 후보인 모간 츠방기라이 총재는 지난 주 집권당의 과격분자들이 자신의 지지자 수 십 명을 살해하고 수 천명을 다치게 했다고 말하면서 결선 투표에 나서지 않을 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
츠방기라이는 29일 무가베 대통령 취임식에 참석해달라는 초청에 대해 의미없는 것이라고 비난하면서 이를 거절했습니다.
한편, 짐바브웨의 로버트 무가베 대통령에 대한 비판가들은 짐바브웨에 대한 국제적인 제재조치를 재개할 것을 촉구하고 있습니다.
케냐의 라일라 오딩가 총리는 29일 아프리카 연합은 짐바브웨의 위기 사태를 해결하기 위해 군 병력을 파견해야할 것이라고 말했습니다.

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has been sworn in
for a new five-year term, after winning an election that many observers
dismissed as a sham tainted by ruling party violence.
Mr. Mugabe took the oath of office at State House in Harare today (Sunday),
about an hour after the electoral commission said he won Friday's presidential
run-off.
In his inauguration speech, the president called for "serious
dialogue" with the opposition to minimize differences and enhance
cooperation.
Friday's run-off went ahead despite numerous calls from African and Western
leaders for its postponement. Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai withdrew from
the poll last week, saying pro-Mugabe militants had killed dozens and injured
thousands of his supporters in the run-up to the vote.
He declined an invitation to attend the inauguration today, denouncing it as
"meaningless."
Meanwhile, critics of Zimbabwe's President Robert
Mugabe are renewing calls for international action against his government.
Today (Sunday), Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga said the African
Union should deploy troops in Zimbabwe to help resolve the crisis there.
