Nepal's deposed king has left the Narayanhiti royal palace in the capital, Kathmandu, for the last time, but says he has no intentions of fleeing the country.
In his first address to the nation in months, former King Gyanendra today(Wednesday) promised to stay in Nepal to work for the good of the people.
The former king said he accepts the decision to abolish the 239-year-old monarchy and make Nepal a republic, and expressed regret if anyone had been hurt by his actions.
He also said he has handed the royal crown and scepter over to the government.
Gyanendra is expected to move to Nagarjun palace, located on a forested hill north of the Nepalese capital, one day before a deadline established by Nepal's Constituent Assembly.
