중국 정부는 국제시장에서 곡물가격의 급등과 이에 따른 전세계 빈민 구제 노력의 어려움에 ‘깊은 우려’를 나타냈습니다.
중국 외교부의 친강 대변인은 8일 “중국 정부는 국제사회와 이 문제에 함께 대응할 의지가 있다”고 밝혔습니다. 친강 대변인은 중국이 유엔 세계식량계획 WFP에 2백만 달러를 원조할 결정을 내렸다고 말했습니다.
WFP는 급등하는 식량 가격으로 인해 전세계적으로1억명이 추가로 기아와 영양결핍의 수렁에 빠질수 있다고 지적했습니다.
아시아개발은행 ADB 총재는 식량가격이 아시아 지역에서 십억명에게 타격을 주고 있다고 말했습니다.

China says it is "highly concerned" about the surging price of grains on global markets and the strain it is putting on international efforts to feed the world's poor.
Speaking to reporters today (Thursday) in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said China is willing to work with the international community to deal with the problem. He said China has decided to give the United Nations' World Food Program two million dollars in assistance.
The World Food Program says soaring food prices are threatening to plunge more than 100 million additional people into hunger and malnutrition across the globe.
In Asia, the head of the Asian Development Bank warned that food prices were having a major impact on more than one billion people in the region.
