필리핀 남부 민다나오 섬에서 중무장한 회교도 반군이 수백에 이르는 기독교 가족들을 벼 재배 농장에서 쫓아냈습니다.
필리핀 당국은 자칭 모로 이슬람 해방전선 대원들이 민다나오 섬 마을에 들이닥쳐 벼 재배농장들이 자신들의 회교도 조상의 땅이라고 주장하자 경찰이 물러났다고 밝혔습니다.
이슬람 해방전선은 필리핀 남부에서 휴전 약속을 준수할 의무가 있으나, 필리핀 정부와의 평화회담이 교착상태에 빠져 있는데다 지난주 말레이시아 정부는 이 지역에 파견된 평화유지군의 철수 계획을 발표했습니다.

Heavily armed Muslim militants have expelled hundreds of Christian families from their rice farms on the troubled southern island of Mindanao.
Philippine authorities say police backed off when alleged members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front came into a village on the island, and claimed the farms were Muslim ancestral lands.
Authorities say the rice in the fields was just about to be harvested.
The MILF is supposed to be observing a cease fire in the south. However, peace talks with the Philippine government have stalled and last week Malaysia announced plans to begin withdrawing its peacekeepers from the region.
The MILF has warned that the withdrawal of peacekeepers could trigger new violence.
