Burma's Prime Minister will visit Thailand this week to promote ties and cooperation between the two countries.
General Thein Sein is scheduled to arrive in Bangkok Tuesday and will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej during his three-day trip.
The visit comes as Burma is preparing to hold a referendum vote on a new constitution.
Burma's military leaders say the constitution will lead to multi-party elections in 2010. But opponents argue the document is designed to maintain the military's role in politics.
The country's opposition National League for Democracy is urging Burmese to vote "no" when the ballot is held on May 10th.
It is unclear whether the party's detained leader Aung San Suu Kyi will be able to participate in the vote because she is under house arrest.
A report in today's (Monday) Yomiuri Shimbun says she will be able to participate.
