신화 통신은 중국 정부가 달라이 라마로부터 회동 요청을 받은 뒤 이에 동의했다고 전했습니다. 중국 관리들은 그러나 달라이 라마가 중국내 폭력사태를 조장하고 베이징 올림픽 경기 참가 거부를 획책하고 있다고 거듭 비난했습니다.
달라이 라마의 대변인은 중국측의 회동 결정을 환영한다고 AFP 통신에 밝혔습니다.
중국 정부가 지난달 티베트와 티베트 족 거주 지역에서 일어난 반중국 항의시위를 진압한 이후, 국제사회는 중국 정부에 달라이 라마와 대화할 것을 촉구해왔습니다.

China's state-run media say government officials have agreed to meet with a private representative of Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, in the coming days.
In a report today (Friday), Xinhua news agency says officials agreed to the meeting after requests were made by the Dalai Lama. In the report, the officials also continued to blame the Nobel Peace laureate for inciting violence in China and trying to sabotage the Beijing Olympics.
The report did not provide any additional information about the meeting.
The French news agency says a spokesman for the Dalai Lama welcomed Beijing's offer to meet.
News of the meeting comes as the international community has been urging Beijing to hold talks with the Dalai Lama following China's crackdown on anti-government protests in Tibet and other Tibetan areas last month.
