19일 티벳 지지자들과 중국 지지자들이 방콕의 유엔 아시아 지부 앞에서 각각 구호를 외치며 시위를 벌였으나, 별다른 문제는 없었습니다.
성화봉송 행사가 진행되는 동안 방콕 시내 차이나타운에서 왕궁에 이르는 10 킬로미터 구간에는 수천명의 경찰이 늘어서 삼엄한 경계를 펼쳤습니다.
베이징 올림픽 성화는 이제 말레이시아로 이송돼 오는 21일 수도 쿠알라 룸푸르에서 봉송행사를 갖습니다.
말레이시아 정부는 19일 16 킬로미터에 달하는 쿠알라 룸푸르의 성화봉송 구간에 경찰 특공대를 배치할 것이라고 발표했습니다.
말레이시아 경찰은 18일 중국정부가 불법으로 규정하고 있는 종교단체 팔룬공 신도들이 말레이시아 주재 중국 대사관 밖에서 시위를 벌인 뒤 20명을 구금했습니다. (JJB)
