일본과 중국의 재무장관들은 미국의 신용위기와 경제 침체로부터 아시아 경제를 지키기 위한 노력에 협력하기로 합의했습니다.
일본의 누카가 후쿠시로 대장상과 중국의 셰쉬런 재정부장이 23일 도쿄에서 두나라 재무장관회담을 갖고, 이 문제를 집중 논의했습니다.
회담을 마친 후 누카가 대장상은, 자신과 셰쉬런 재정부장이 정보를 공유하고, 창마이계획으로 알려진 지역협력협정을 준수하기로 합의했다고 밝혔습니다.
창마이계획은 아시아 정부들이 금융위기가 닥치면 서로 외환을 빌려주도록 허용하고 있습니다.
누카가 대장상은, 불확실성이 높아질 때에 일본과 중국,그리고 인도가 세계경제를 이끄는 것이 중요하다고 말했습니다.

The finance ministers of Japan and China have agreed to cooperate on efforts to shield the Asian economy from the U.S. credit market crisis and economic downturn.
Japan's Fukushiro Nukaga and China's Xie Xuren discussed the issues at a meeting Sunday in Tokyo.
After their talks, Nukaga said he and Xie agreed to share information and to honor a regional cooperation agreement known as the Chiang Mai Initiative. That initiative allows participating Asian governments to lend foreign currency to each other in case of financial emergencies.
Nukaga said it is important for Japan, China and India to lead the global economy at a time of increasing uncertainty.
The head of the Japan Center for Economic Research, Mitsuhiro Fukao, says Japan, China and Taiwan can sustain themselves financially if their exports to the United States decline. Fukao says other Asian economies such as the Philippines and Indonesia would be hurt more by falling exports because their foreign currency reserves would erode.
