A close political ally of Mr. Sarkozy, Nicolas Bazire, and the communications director of Prada, Mathilde Agostinelli, served as witnesses.
Mr. Sarkozy divorced his second wife, Cecila, in October, and began dating Bruni in November. Their relationship was highly publicized in the media. Surveys have found that many French objected to the public nature of their affair.
Today's wedding makes Mr. Sarkozy the first French president in history to get married while in office.
