중국의 관영 신화통신은 슈 샤오시 중국 국토자원부 부장의 말을 인용해 이번 형사 처벌은 3천1백 건의 토지 사용 위반 가운데 일부라고 보도했습니다.

Chinese state media says the Ministry of Land Resources made the announcement Monday. The ministry's head, Xu Shaoshi, says the charges stem from 31-thousand cases of land use violations.
The ministry says they are still investigating another one-thousand officials in a 100-day nationwide crackdown on local governments illegally appropriating land for private use.
Under Chinese law, all farmland is owned collectively. But rural residents claim that in practice it is controlled by officials, who they say act much as rich landlords before the communists took power in 1949.
