중국을 방문중인 인도의 만모한 싱 총리는, 중국과의 평화적인 핵에너지 개발협력을 확대할 것을 촉구했습니다.
싱 총리는 15일 사흘간의 중국 방문을 마치면서 사회 과학원에서 행한 연설에서 이같이 밝히고, 인도는 민간 핵에너지 개발분야에서 중국을 포함해 국제사회와의 협력을 희망한다고 말했습니다.
싱 총리는 또한 베이징 인민대회당에서 후진타오 중국 국가주석과 회담을 갖고, 두 나라의 협력관계에 관해 논의했습니다.
중국 관영 신화통신은, 중국과 인도가 무역과 에너지, 과학, 기술, 투자분야에서 협력을 확대하자고 한 후진타오 주석의 말을 인용, 보도했습니다.
앞서 싱 총리는, 원자바오 총리와 양국 총리회담을 갖고 무역과 군사 등 각분야에서 전략적 동반자관계를 강화해 나가기로 합의했습니다.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called for increased cooperation with China on peaceful nuclear energy during a visit intended to ease historic tensions between the two neighbors.
Mr. Singh made the call in a speech to Chinese intellectuals today (Tuesday), as he wrapped up a three-day visit to Beijing. As the world's two most populous nations, he said, India and China have no choice but to widen their energy options.
Mr. Singh also discussed bilateral cooperation with Chinese President Hu Jintao today. President Hu was quoted by Chinese state media as saying China and India should increase collaboration in trade, energy, science, technology, and investment. The Indian prime minister said the world economy was largely about western nations in the 20th century, but it could be largely about Asia in the 21st.
