수천명의 홍콩 시민들이 중국 정부의 홍콩 행정장관 직선제 도입 연기에 반대해 시위를 벌였습니다.
시위자들은 13일 2012년 까지 홍콩 행정장관 직선제 도입을 요구하며 시가행진을 벌였습니다.
중국 정부는 지난 달 홍콩의 행정장관 직접 선거를 2017년 이후에 허용할 것을 결정한 바 있습니다. 중국은 또 홍콩 자치구 위원들에 대한 선거도 2020년 이후에 허용할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
시위 주관 단체들은 빅토리아 공원에서부터 정부 청사까지 이어지는 오늘 시가 행진에 2만여명 이상의 홍콩 시민들이 참여했다고 말했습니다.
도널드 창 현 홍콩 행정장관은 현지 라디오 방송과의 회견에서 홍콩 시민들은 정치적 개혁으로 이룰 수 있는 일들에 초점을 맞춰야 한다고 말했습니다.

Thousands of people have marched in Hong Kong to protest Beijing's decision to delay the introduction of full democracy in the city.
Protesters in today's (Sunday's) march demanded that Beijing allow Hong Kong citizens to directly elect their leader and all lawmakers by 2012.
China's leadership ruled last month that direct elections for Hong Kong's leader would have to wait until 2017. Beijing also said full elections for the territory's legislature would not come before 2020 at the earliest.
Organizers of today's rally say more than 20 thousand people joined the march as it proceeded from Hong Kong's Victoria Park to the city's government headquarters.
Hong Kong's current leader, Chief Executive Donald Tsang, said on local radio today that people should focus on what is possible to achieve in political reform, rather than what is not.
