태국 군부 쿠데타로 축출된 탁신 치나왓 전 총리는 8일 비리 혐의를 받고 있는 자신과 부인의 결백을 입증하기 위해 귀국하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
탁신 전 총리는 이 날 홍콩에서 성명을 발표하고 자신들의 부부에 대한 비리 혐의를 벗기 위해 적당한 시기에 태국으로 귀국하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
경찰은 탁신 전 총리인 부인인 포자만 여사가 이 날 홍콩에서 귀국하자마자 방콕 국제 공항에서 체포했습니다. 포자만 여사는 대법원의 법정에 출두해 16만8천달러의 보석금을 내고 석방됐으나, 출국 금지 명령이 내려졌습니다.
포자만 여사는 정치적 영향력을 유용해 부동산을 불법 취득하는 등의 여러 혐의를 받고 있습니다.
Ousted Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra says he will eventually join his wife in Thailand to prove their innocence in court.
In a statement released in Hong Kong today (Tuesday), Mr. Thaksin said he would return to Thailand "at the appropriate time" to fight corruption charges against both of them.
Police handed Pojamarn Shinawatra an arrest warrant at Bangkok's international airport upon her arrival from Hong Kong Tuesday, and she signed it. Pojamarn was then taken to the Supreme Court to hear corruption charges against her.
The court released her on 168 thousand dollars bail and instructed her not to leave the country.
She faces various charges, including the illegal purchase of real estate by using political influence.
