관계자들은 이 아프간 경비원들이 18일, 서부의 파라 주에서 탈레반 무장세력의 매복 공격을 받을 당시, 보급물자 수송차량을 호송하고 있었다고 말했습니다. 이 수송 차량들은 아프가니스탄의 양귀비 재배지역인 헬만드 주의 한 군 초소로 보급물자를 싣고 가던 중이었습니다.
한편 탈레반 지도자 물라 오마르의 것으로 보이는 성명은 아프간의 겨울철을 맞아 탈레반이 계속 연합군을 공격할 것이라고 다짐했습니다.
애꾸눈의 오마르는 탈레반 전사들이 연합군에게 10개월만에 다시 빼앗긴 무사 칼라를 계속 압박할 것이라고 말했습니다.

Afghan officials say Taliban militants have killed 15 local guards working for a private U.S. security firm in Afghanistan.
Officials say the Afghan guards were escorting a supply convoy in the western province of Farah when they were ambushed today (Tuesday). At least five other guards were wounded.
The convoy was on its way to a military outpost in Helmand province -- the volatile heartland of Afghanistan's poppy-producing region.
Also today (Tuesday), a statement attributed to Taliban leader Mullah Omar vowed his group will continue to attack coalition troops during the Afghan winter.
The one-eyed fugitive cleric said Taliban fighters will keep pressure on Musa Qala -- the town recently recaptured by coalition forces after 10 months under Taliban control.
