Speaking with reporters today (Thursday) as the U.N.-sponsored climate talks in Bali entered their final stretch, Yve de Boer voiced concern about the pace of the talks, which end Friday.
De Boer said that if delegates cannot find some way of agreeing on a draft text, the whole effort could fall apart.
The E.U. and the vast majority of the 190 nations at the conference want to target a 25- to 40-percent cut in greenhouse gas emissions. The United States, Canada and Japan reject these targets that are being proposed as part of the draft text or "Bali roadmap."
