페르베즈 무샤라프 파키스탄 대통령은 민주주의를 복원하기 위해서 다음달 16일 국가비상사태를 해제할 것이라고 말했습니다.
무샤라프 대통령은 29일 대통령 두번째 임기 취임선서를 마친 직후 행한 대국민 연설에서 비상사태 해제와 헌법 복원 계획을 밝혔습니다. 무샤라프 대통령은 민간대통령으로 5년간의 새 임기를 시작했습니다.
무샤라프 대통령은 앞서 지난 3일 국가비상사태를 선포했으며, 이후 이를 해제하라는 국제사회의 압력을 받아왔습니다. 무샤라프 대통령은 비상사태 선포가 사법부의 간섭과 이슬람 극단세력의 활동을 막기 위한 결정이었다고 말했습니다.
무샤라프 대통령은 또 내년 1월 모든 정당이 참여하는 의회총선을 치르겠다는 약속도 재확인했습니다.
한편 나와즈 샤리프 전총리는 29일 여전히 총선에 참가하지 않을 계획이라면서, 하지만 최종 결정을 내리기 전에 베나지르 부토 전 총리와 상의할 것이라고 말했습니다.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf says he will lift emergency rule on December 16th in order to bring democracy to the country.
Mr. Musharraf also announced he would restore the constitution in a speech to the nation today (Thursday), shortly after being sworn in for a new five-year term as a civilian president.
The Pakistani leader had been under intense international pressure to lift emergency rule imposed on November third. During his speech, Mr. Musharraf defended his decision, saying the move was necessary to curb a meddling judiciary and beat back Islamist militants.
President Musharraf also reaffirmed his promise to hold parliamentary elections by January eighth and called on all parties to participate in the poll.
Today (Thursday) former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he still wanted to boycott the election, but would consult former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and her party before making a decision.
