유럽연합은 중국이 유럽 시장에 대한 위험한 중국산 장난감과 그 밖의 상품 수출 중단에 있어서 상당한 진전을 이룩했다고 평가했습니다.
유럽연합 집행위원회는 22일, 중국의 상품안전에 관한 유럽연합의 조사결과 중국 당국이 훨씬 적극적으로 상품의 문제들을 확인, 추적하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다면서 이같이 말했습니다. 그러나 중국 장난감 제조업의 중대한 문제들이 아직도 남아있다고 유럽연합 조사보고서는 지적했습니다.
유럽연합 소비자보호 위원회 메글레나 쿠네바 위원장은 앞서 중국 당국이 자국 상품의 안전문제에서 진전을 이룩하지 못하면 중국산 장난감의 대유럽연합 수출을 금지할 것이라고 경고한 바 있습니다.

The European Union says China has made considerable progress in stopping exports of dangerous toys and other products to European markets.
The European Commission said today (Thursday) that an EU study of Chinese safety controls found that Chinese authorities have become more active in identifying and tackling problems.
EU Consumer Protection Commissioner Meglena Kuneva had previously warned that the EU could ban Chinese toy imports if Beijing did not make progress on product safety.
The EU study released today also says significant problems remain in China's toy industry.
The European Commission launched the review in September in response to the recall of millions of Chinese-made toys this year. The toys contained excessive levels of lead paint and other dangerous components.
