국제적십자사는 군사적 긴장이 지속되고 있는 아프리카 북동부의 에티오피아와 에리트리아 국경지대에서 900여명의 난민들을 구출했습니다.
국제적십자사는 26일 835명의 민간인들이 국경을 넘어 에리트리아로부터 에티오피아로 이동하는 것을 도왔다고 성명서를 통해 밝혔습니다. 또 같은 방식으로 50명의 민간인이 에리트리아로 이동했다고 덧붙혔습니다.
이러한 작전은 이주를 원하는 개인들과 당국자들의 협조 하에 가능했다고 국제적십자사는 밝혔습니다.
최근 에티오피아와 에리트리아간 상호 비방이 잦고, 군사 움직임도 포착 되면서, 두나라간 국경분쟁이 재발할 것이라는 우려가 일고 있습니다. 지난 1998년부터 2년간 지속된 분쟁에서 7만명이 희생됐습니다.

The International Red Cross says it has helped repatriate nearly 900 people across the tense and militarized Ethiopian-Eritrean border.
A Red Cross statement says that on Friday, 835 civilians crossed from Eritrea to Ethiopia under the auspices of the aid group.
It says the same operation brought 50 civilians from Ethiopia to Eritrea.
The Red Cross says it carried out the operation with the consent of each individual involved and with the cooperation of the authorities.
Troop movements and angry rhetoric have heightened fears of renewed fighting between Ethiopia and Eritrea. A two-year border war from 1998 to 2000 killed some 70-thousand people.
