버마 군사정부는 연료가격 폭등 항의시위에 대한 명백한 양보조치로 시위 중 다친 시위자 한 명을 석방했습니다.
인권운동가들은 테인 나잉씨가 병원에서 치료를 받은 후에 7일, 석방됐다고 밝혔습니다. 나잉 씨는 지난 8월 말 연료가격 폭등에 항의해 시위를 벌이다가 경찰에 구속되면서 다리 골절상을 입었습니다.
나잉 씨와 함께 구금돼 그동안 구치소에서 나잉 씨의 석방을 위해 단식투쟁을 벌이던 민주화 지지자들은 나잉 씨가 병원에 입원해 치료를 받게 되자 단식투쟁을 끝냈습니다.
경찰은 중부도시 파코쿠에서 벌어진 승려들의 시위를 해산시키기 위해 공포탄을 발사했습니다. 목격자들에
따르면 시위자들과 지지자들이 경찰의 구타를 당했습니다.
최근 수주동안 버마에서는 거의 매일 반정부 항의시위가 일어나고 있습니다.

Burma's military rulers have released a wounded protester in an apparent concession to those rallying across the country against a spike in fuel prices.
Activists said today (Friday) that Ye Thein Naing was released after being taken to a hospital for treatment. His leg was broken when he was detained by authorities during a rally in late August.
Pro-democracy supporters jailed with him had staged a hunger strike on his behalf, ending it when the protester was given medical treatment.
Anti-government protests have been occurring almost daily in Burma in recent weeks.
Authorities fired their guns into the air to break up a march by monks in the central town Pakokku Wednesday, and according to witnesses then beat the protesters and their supporters. On Thursday, several monks retaliated, holding a group of officials hostage for several hours and setting fire to their cars.
