중국은 내년부터 유엔에 자신들의 군사비 지출 현황을 제출하기로 했다고 중국 외무부가 2일 밝혔습니다.
중국 외교부의 대변인은 이날 외교부 인터넷 홈페이지를 통해 중국에 내년부터 유엔의 군사비 투명성 제도에 참가하겠다고 말했습니다. 이에 따라 중국은 내년부터 전년도의 군사비 지출 내역과 무기 수출입 그리고 7개 항목에 걸친 재래식 무기 현황을 보고할 예정입니다.
중국 외교부 당국자는 이는 중국의 국방예산의 투명성을 강화하기 위한요 조치로 중국은 세계 각국과 군사적 상호신뢰를 높이기 위한 적극적 태도를 견지하고 있다고 설명했습니다.
지난 1980년 채택된 유엔 군사비 투명성 제도는 유엔 회원국의 군사비 투명도를 높이기 위한 제도적 장치로 그동안 110여개국이 1차례 이상의 군비 지출 내역을 보고했습니다.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry official says Beijing will report its basic military expenditures to the United Nations.
Spokeswoman Jiang Yu stated on the ministry's Web site today (Sunday) that China would report its arms sales and purchases for the latest fiscal year to the U.N. Register of Conventional Arms. The register details the import and export of seven categories of conventional weapons.
Jiang says the reporting is a significant step in enhancing China's military transparency.
China says it stopped reporting to the U.N. register in 1996 because a "certain country" had sold weapons to Taiwan, which Beijing considers a rogue province. China did not specify the country.
China says spending for its People's Liberation Army grew nearly 18 percent this year to about about 45 billion dollars.
