가자지구내 주요 발전소가 연료 부족으로 19일 전면 가동이 중단돼 수 십 만 명의 팔레스타인 주민들이 정전 사태를 겪고 있습니다.
이 발전소에 연료를 공급하는 이스라엘의 한 연료 회사는 유럽 연합이나 다른 기구가 연료 수송비를 보장해야만 연료 선적이 재개될 것이라고 말했습니다.
이스라엘 정부는 연료 수송이 이루어지는 접경 지역내 한 터미널에서의 안보 위협을 이유를 들면서 지난 16일부터 가자 지구에 대한 연료 선적을 중단했습니다.
가자 발전소는 지난 17일 발전소 내 4개 발전기 가운데 3개의 가동을 중단시킴으로써 가자 지구내 여러 지역을 암흑 속에서 지내도록 만들었습니다.
이스라엘 당국자들이 문제의 터미널을 19일 다시 열었으나 가자 당국자들은 발전소 가동에 필요한 연료를 공급받지 못했다고 전했습니다.

Gaza's main power plant shut down completely today (Sunday) because of a lack of fuel, causing power outages for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.
(Dor Allon,) An Israeli fuel company that supplies the plant says it will only resume shipments if the European Union or another body guarantees payment for the deliveries.
Israel's government stopped fuel shipments to Gaza last Thursday because of what it called "security threats" to a border terminal (Nahal Oz) through which deliveries are made.
The Gaza plant closed three of its four generators on Friday, leaving several parts of Gaza without power.
Israeli authorities reopened the border terminal Sunday, but Gaza authorities said they did not receive the type of fuel needed to operate the plant.
