이번 사건은 자바섬에서 두번째 큰 도시인 수라바야에서 동남쪽으로 50 킬로미터 떨어진 파수루안 마을에서 일어났습니다.
경찰은 이번 폭발이 테러분자의 소행인지 아직 판단을 내리지 못하고 있다고 말했습니다.
인도네시아에서는 과격 회교단체들이 활발한 활동을 벌이고 있으며, 과거 여러 차례 폭탄테러를 자행했습니다.
지난 2002년에는 발리섬에서 폭탄테러가 발생해 2백2명이 숨졌습니다.
Authorities in Indonesia say at least two people were killed and four injured today (Saturday) in an explosion at a housing complex in the eastern part of the country's main island of Java.
Police say they have found bomb making materials at the scene where several houses were destroyed and others damaged.
The blast occurred in Pasuruan, a town about 50 kilometers southeast of Surabaya, Indonesia's second largest city on Java.
Police could not immediately determine if the explosion was related to terrorist activities.
Radical Muslim groups are active in Indonesia and have carried out deadly bomb attacks on its islands in the past. Blasts on Indonesia's Bali island in 2002 killed 202 people.
