Foreign ministers from Egypt and Jordan have held talks in Israel to formally present an Arab land-for-peace plan.
Egypt's Ahmed Abul Gheit and Jordan's Abdel Ilah al-Khatib visited Israel today (Wednesday) as representatives of the Arab League -- the first time the 22-member group has sent a delegation to Israel.
The two foreign ministers met with top Israeli officials to discuss the peace plan, which offers full recognition of Israel in return for its withdrawal from land captured during the 1967 war.
Gheit said he hoped to convey to the Arab League "a positive response" from Israel.
Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said she believes the Arab League can help move the peace process forward. Israel has said that, if amended, the plan could provide a basis for talks.
