이보다 앞서 미군은 바그다드에서 발생한 2건의 길가폭탄 공격으로 미군 3명이 사망했다고 말했습니다.
미군은 18일 발표한 성명에서, 바그다드 서부에서 17일 미군 차량 옆에서 폭발 장비가 터져 미군 2명이 사망했다고 밝혔습니다. 또한 바그다드 동부에서 폭발물이 미군 차량을 강타해 미군 1명이 사망하고 4명이 부상했습니다.
이라크 당국자들은 18일, 바그다드에서 또 다른 폭발로 민간인 4명이 사망하고 7명이 다쳤다고 말했습니다.

A military spokesman said today (Wednesday) U.S. forces captured Khaled al-Mashhadani, who is believed to work closely with the Egyptian-born Abu Ayub al-Masri, who heads al-Qaida in Iraq.
Earlier Wednesday, the U.S. military in Iraq said three U.S. soldiers were killed by roadside bombs in Baghdad.
Two soldiers were killed in western Baghdad Tuesday when an explosive device detonated next to their vehicle, and a third U.S. soldier was killed by an explosive in eastern Baghdad. Four others were wounded in that attack.
Iraqi officials said Wednesday that four civilians were killed and seven wounded in another blast in the capital.
