After lashing the island of Okinawa (today/Friday), Japanese forecasters say Typhoon Man-yi is now headed toward Japan's main islands with gusts of wind up to 120 kilometers-an-hour.
The storm has already prompted the cancelation of hundreds of flights, and cut power to nearly 100-thousand homes.
Forecasters say the storm is moving north at 11 kilometers an hour and expect it to reach Japan's main islands on Saturday. By Saturday morning, forecasters expect 50 centimeters of rain to have fallen on the island of Kyushu.
On Tuesday, the storm sank a Chinese vessel 600 kilometers northwest of Guam. Twelve crewmembers are missing.
