계 150여개국 경제계 지도자들은 6일 제네바에서 기후변화 대책에 나설 것을 다짐하는 선언을 발표하고, 이산화탄소 배출로 인한 피해를 줄일 수 있는 행동을 취할 것을 다짐했습니다.
유엔환경계획의 아킴 슈타이너 사무국장은 이제 기업인들이 더 이상 기후변화 대책을 경제발전의 위협으로 보지 않는다고 말했습니다. 슈타이너 국장은 경제인들이 지구온난화를 가져오는 이산화탄소 배출양을 줄이는 것이 경제를 개선하고 더욱 풍요롭게 만들 수 있는 기회로 보고 있다고 말했습니다.
국제기후변화회의의 라젠드라 파차우리 의장은 기업이 지구온난화 문제에 대해 발벗고 나서서 해결책을 찾지 않는 한, 이 문제를 해결할 수 없다고 밝혔습니다.

Business leaders from 150 countries worldwide are pledging to take action on climate change, committing themselves to reduce damage caused by carbon dioxide emissions.
The leaders, meeting in Geneva, signed a declaration pledging action on the issue.
United Nations Environment Program director Achim Steiner says the businessmen no longer view climate change just as a threat to economic development. He says they see lowering the emissions that lead to global warming as an opportunity for business to improve economies and make them more efficient.
The chairman of the International Panel on Climate Change, Rajendra Pachauri, says unless business is deeply involved in finding solutions the world will be unable to tackle the problem. He stressed the importance of businesses and industries to start looking at the future and making low carbon investments that will serve their commercial interests.
