이스라엘 정부는 하마스 내각 출범이후 압수했던 팔레스타인 세수 수억 달러 상당을 파타 운동의 마흐무드 압바스 자치 수반에게 넘겨주기로 결정했습니다.
이같은 조치는 하마스가 폭력을 사용해 가자 지구를 점령한 뒤 하마스에 맞서고 있는 압바스의 비상 내각을 강화시키기 위한 것입니다.
이스라엘의 에후드 올메르트 총리는 24일 내각에게 지난 2006년 1월 팔레스타인 총선에서 압승을 거둔 회교 과격단체 하마스가 집권한 이후 압수했던 팔레스타인의 세수 6억 달러 상당을 압바스 수반 측에게 넘겨줄 것을 요청했습니다.
그러나 해임된 하마스의 이스마일 하니예 총리는 팔레스타인의 세수는 무조건 모든 팔레스타인인들에게 넘겨져야할 것이라고 말했습니다.
그는 또한 이집트에서 25일로 예정된 올메르트 총리와 압바스 수반, 호스니 무바락 이집트 대통령, 압둘라 요르단 국왕 등이 참가할 회담도 참가하길 거부했습니다.

The Israeli government has approved the release of hundreds of millions of dollars in Palestinian tax money to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah.
The move is aimed at strengthening Mr. Abbas against the rival Palestinian faction Hamas after Hamas's violent takeover of the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert asked the Cabinet today (Sunday) to release some 600-million dollars in tax revenues withheld since Hamas, an Islamic militant group, swept Palestinian parliamentary elections in January 2006.
But deposed Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas said the tax should be released to all Palestinians without conditions.
He also rejected a meeting planned for Monday in Egypt including Israeli Prime Minister Olmert, Mr. Abbas, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Jordon's King Abdullah. He said Palestinian resistance is the only way forward.
Mr. Olmert is expected to announce a package of benefits for the moderate Fatah government during the talks Monday.
