미국의 크리스토퍼 힐 국무부 동아시아태평양 담당 차관보는 북한이 3주 안에 영변 핵 시설을 폐쇄할 예정이라고 말했습니다.
미국측 6자회담 수석대표인 힐 차관보는 23일 도쿄에서 가진 기자회견에서, 북한이 국제원자력기구 (IAEA) 사찰단과 감시방식을 협의한 뒤 핵 시설 폐쇄를 시작할 것이라고 말했습니다.
IAEA 사찰단은 오는 26일에 북한에 도착할 예정입니다.
이번 주 북한을 전격적으로 방문한 힐 차관보는 6자회담이 7월중에 재개될 것으로 본다고 말했습니다.
북한 관영 통신은 힐 차관보의 북한방문에 대해 긍정적인 평가를 내리면서, 오는 8월초에 6자회담 참가국 외무장관 회의를 개최하는 방안을 검토중이라고 말했습니다.
북한은 마카오의 방코델타아시아 (BDA) 은행에 동결됐던 북한 자금을 돌려받아야만 핵 계획을 폐쇄하겠다고 말해왔습니다.
러시아 언론은 BDA의 북한자금이 러시아 은행으로 송금됐다고 보도하고 있습니다.

The top U.S. nuclear envoy says he expects North Korea to shut down its main nuclear reactor within three weeks.
(Assistant Secretary of State) Christopher Hill said in Tokyo today (Saturday) that North Korea agreed to begin the shutdown after it discusses the monitoring process with the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog.
U.N. inspectors are to arrive in Pyongyang Tuesday.
Hill, who made a rare visit to North Korea this week, says he expects the next round of six-party talks on Pyongyang's nuclear program to be held in July.
The North's state news agency was upbeat about Hill's visit. It said there are plans for the six nations' foreign ministers to meet in early August.
Pyongyang has said it will close its nuclear program only after receiving its funds that were frozen in a Macau bank.
Russian media say the funds have been transferred to a Russian bank (, the Khabarovsk-based Dalcombank).
