조지 부시 미국 대통령은 이라크 국민들에게 종파간 폭력을 단념할 것을 촉구했습니다.
부시 대통령은시아파 회교의 성소인 아스카리야 사원에 대한13일의 폭탄공격은 테러리스트들의 잔인한 도발행위라고 규탄하면서 이같이 촉구했습니다.
이라크에서는 사마라 소재 아스카리야 사원 폭탄공격 하루 뒤인 14일, 적어도 여섯 곳의 수니파 회교 사원들이 폭탄공격과 방화공격을 받았습니다. 누리 알-말리키 이라크 총리는 회교 사원들에 대한 보안태세를 강화하고 사원 재건노력이 진행되고 있다고 말했습니다.
바그다드와 사마라에서는 통행금지가 시행되고 있으나 시아파 도시 사드르 시티에서는 수 백 명의 군중이 통금시행에 아랑곳 없이 거리로 뛰쳐나가 사마라 회교사원 공격사태를 항의하는 시위를 벌이고 있습니다.

Several Sunni mosques were attacked in Iraq today (Thursday), the day after suspected al-Qaida militants bombed a revered Shi'ite shrine in Samarra.
At least six Sunni mosques have been burned or bombed since the attack on the Askariya shrine early Wednesday in Samarra.
There were no reports of casualties in any of the attacks.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has increased security at religious sites, and says efforts are underway to rebuild the Shi'ite shrine.
Iraqi officials imposed a curfew in Baghdad and Samarra, but hundreds of Iraqis still took to the streets of Baghdad's Shi'ite neighborhood of Sadr City to protest the Samarra attack.
Demonstrations were also held in Najaf and Basra.
In Washington, President Bush urged Iraqis to renounce sectarian violence. He said Wednesday's attack was a provocative act of cruelty by terrorists.
