중국 측 후젱규 협상대표는 두 나라가 모두 수용할 수 있는 공동 개발 계획에 도달하기를 희망한다고 말했습니다.
양측은 지난달 원자바오 총리의 일본 방문 때, 공동 에너지 개발을 허용하는 절충안을 찾기로 합의했었습니다.
동중국해와 일본 남부 오키나와 열도 인근 해저에는 풍부한 천연가스가 매장되어 있으며, 개발권을 놓고 중국과 일본이 분쟁을 벌여왔습니다.

Chinese and Japanese officials have opened talks in Beijing on a long-standing dispute over drilling rights in the East China Sea.

During a visit to Japan last month by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, the two sides agreed to find a compromise that would allow joint energy development.
