팔레스타인 무장조직 하마스는 11일 어린이 만화 주인공 미키 마우스가 등장해 이스라엘에 저항해 싸울 것을 촉구하는 어린이 텔레비전 프로그램 방영을 중단하라는 팔레스타인 정부의 요구를 일축했습니다.
팔레스타인 정부의 무스타파 바르구티 공보장관은 하마스 텔레비전방송에 대해 미키 마우스가 등장하는 어린이 프로그램을 제거할 것을 촉구하고, 현재 이 프로그램을 퇴출시키고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
바르구티 장관은 이 프로그램은 정치적 메시지를 담고 있어서 어린이 프로그램으로는 적절치 않다고 말했습니다.
그동안 이 프로그램은 급진적인 이슬람과 반유태주의를 부추긴다는 이유로 이스라엘인과 유대인 단체들로부터 거센 항의를 받았습니다.
이 프로그램에는 유명한 월트 디즈니의 만화 주인공 미키 마우스와 비슷한 옷을 입은 파르푸르가 주인공으로 등장합니다.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas has defied calls to end a children's television program that features a Mickey Mouse-style character and calls for resistance to Israel.
The program -- called "Tomorrow's Pioneers" -- aired as usual today (Friday) on Hamas's television station.
Wednesday, Palestinian Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti urged the station to take the show off the air, and said the program was being withdrawn. He said it was wrong to air a children's show with political messages.
The program drew strong protests from Israeli and Jewish groups, who said it promoted radical Islam and anti-Semitism.
The show features a host called Farfur who dresses in an outfit that resembles the famous Walt Disney cartoon character Mickey Mouse.
