나이지리아의 분쟁지역인 니제르 델타의 한 무장단체가 남부 산유지에서 송유관 3곳을 폭파했다고 주장했습니다. ‘니제르델타해방운동’은 8일 언론사들에 보낸 전자우편을 통해 이같이 주장했습니다.
이 단체는 전투원들이 바옐사주의 브라스와 아카사 지역에서 이날 새벽 송유관들을 폭파했다고 말했습니다. 이와 관련해 석유업계 소식통들은 브라스 강 유역에 석유유출이 발생했다고 보고했습니다.
이 단체는 또 이번 공격들로 인해 이탈리아의 ‘아지프’사가 운영하는 수출 터미널에서 전력이 끊겼다고 주장했지만 아직까지 확인되지 않고 있습니다.

A militant group in Nigeria's volatile Niger Delta region says it has destroyed three major oil pipelines.
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) made the claim today (Tuesday) in an e-mail sent to news media.
The group said its fighters attacked pipelines in the areas of Brass and Akasa in Bayelsa state (at one a.m. Nigerian time). Oil industry sources have since reported an oil spill on the Brass river.
The militant group says the attacks also caused a power outage at an export terminal run by the Italian company Agip.
Neither Agip nor Nigerian authorities have confirmed the group's claims.
MEND has demanded the Nigerian government direct more of the Niger Delta's oil wealth to impoverished local communities. The group was responsible for a string of attacks in early 2006 that shut down nearly a quarter of Nigeria's daily oil production.
