이라크에서는 하루 전인 6일에 폭탄 공격 등으로 미군 9명이 숨졌습니다. 이중 6명의 군인과 한 러시아 사진기자는 디얄라 지역에서 차량 폭발로 사망했습니다.
한편 국제적십자는 이라크에서 최악의 인권 사태가 벌어지고 있으며, 수십만 명의 주민들을 돕기 위해서 구호인력을 추가로 파견할 것이라고 말했습니다.

Two suicide car bombers have killed at least 20 people outside the Iraqi city Ramadi.
Police blamed al-Qaida in Iraq for the attacks on a market and police checkpoint. Sunni Arab tribal leaders in the area have joined forces to fight the terrorist group.
In other violence today (Monday), a mortar attack killed five people in southern Baghdad.
The attacks come one day after roadside bombs and small arms fire killed nine American soldiers in Iraq. Six of those soldiers and a Russian photo-journalist died when their vehicle was blown up in Diyala province.
Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross says it is increasing its operations in Iraq to help hundreds of thousands of people affected by what it says is an ever-worsening humanitarian crisis.
