이라크의 누리 알-말리키 총리가 이집트에서 이번 주에 열리는 이라크에 관한 국제 회의에 참석할 것이라고 동의한 이란에 대해 고마움을 표했다고 이라크 정부가 밝혔습니다.
말리키 총리는 바그다드에서 29일 이란의 고위 안보 관리인 알리 라리자니와 회담한 뒤 총리실이 발표한 성명을 통해 이란에게 감사의 뜻을 전했습니다.
이 성명은 라리자니의 말을 인용해 중동지역의 안보와 안정을 원하는 나라들은 이라크의 선출된 정부를 지지해야할 것이라고 말했습니다.
이란은 앞서 이집트 휴양지 샤름 엘-쉐이크에서 다음달 3일부터 열리는 이틀 일정의 이 회의에 마누쉐르 모타키 외무장관을 파견할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
미국의 콘돌리자 라이스 국무장관은 이번 다국적 회의와는 별도로 모타키 이란 장관과의 회담을 배제하지는 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.
라이스 장관은 29일 ABC-TV 방송에 출연해 이번 회의가 미국과 이란에 관한 회의가 아니라면서 그러나 이라크의 이웃 나라들과 이라크에 관심있는 다른 나라들이 이라크의 치안을 안정시키도록 돕기 위한 방안을 논의할 것이라고 말했습니다.

Iraq says Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has thanked Iran for agreeing to participate in a major international conference on Iraq set for this week in Egypt.
Mr. Maliki thanked Iran in a statement issued by his office after he met today (Sunday) in Baghdad with Tehran's top national security official, Ali Larijani.
The statement quotes Larijani as saying countries that want security and stability in the region must support Iraq's elected government.
Iran said earlier in the day it will send its foreign minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, to the two-day conference, which starts on Thursday in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh resort.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says she would not rule out a meeting with Mottaki on the sidelines of the multi-national conference.
