북한 관영 매체들은 김격식 대장이 최근 국방위원회 부위원장에 선임된 김영춘 군 차수의 뒤를 이어 총참모장을 맡게 됐다고 말했습니다.
북한 매체들은 김 대장이 21일 김정일 국방위원장을 수행해서 부대 두 곳을 시찰했다고 전했습니다.

North Korea has appointed a new military chief.
North Korean media say General Kim Kyok Sik has taken over as chief of the general staff of the Korean People's Army after his predecessor was named deputy of the National Defense Commission.
Reports say the new army chief accompanied North Korean leader Kim Jong Il Saturday on an inspection of two military bases.
