수단 정부는 지난해 11월 유엔과 아프리카연합 평화유지군으로 이뤄진 혼성 병력을 받아들이기로 합의했지만, 이후 합의 이행을 거부하고 있습니다.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte will arrive in Sudan today (Thursday) to try to convince the government to accept U.N. peacekeepers in Darfur.
State Department officials are not saying Negroponte will deliver an ultimatum to President Omar al-Bashir. But they say the veteran diplomat wants to see tangible action from Khartoum on removing any obstacles to an expanded presence in the war-ravaged region.
Negroponte's mission comes amid continuing violence in Darfur that is spilling over into neighboring Chad.
Sudan agreed to a so-called hybrid force of U.N. and African Union peacekeepers last November, but has stalled on implementing the deal.
Fighting in Darfur that involves rebels, Sudanese government forces and government-backed militia groups has killed some 200-thousand people since 2003. Another two million people have been driven from their homes.
