A U.S. magazine that covers the aerospace and defense industries has published an article saying China is stepping up its tests of medium and long-rang ballistic missiles.
The report appears in "Aviation Week's" Monday edition. Senior editor Craig Covault said the article was based on interviews with officers and managers who run the U.S. missile warning satellite system.
Covault did not publish any definite numbers of Chinese tests, but he described the increase as extensive and surprising.
China's ambassador in Washington, Zhou Wenzhong, said recently that Beijing's space ambitions are peaceful. Zhou said China is against the weaponization of outer space.
