일본 내각은 각 종 국가 위기에 더욱 신속하게 대처하기 위해서 미국식 국가안보회의를 창설하는 법안을 승인했습니다.
시오자키 야스히사 일본 관방장관은 6일 새 기구가 기존의 안보회의를 대체하게 되며, 총리와 관방장관, 외상, 방위상이 참석할 것이라고 말했습니다.
하지만 새 기구의 창설이 6월에 끝나는 정기회기에서 의회의 승인을 받을 지는 불투명합니다. 의회에서는 일본 주둔 미군의 재배치와 일본 공군의 이라크 파병 등 보다 중요한 현안을 우선 처리해야 하기 때문입니다.
아베 신조 일본 총리는 외교와 국가 안보 문제 처리 능력을 강화하기 위해서 새 기구가 필요하다고 말했습니다.

Japan's cabinet has approved a bill to create a U.S.-style, national security council to enable the government to respond more quickly to crises.
The chief cabinet secretary (Yasuhisa Shiozaki) said today (Friday) that the new entity would replace the country's existing security council and would consist of the prime minister, chief cabinet secretary, and the foreign and defense ministers.
However, the bill is unlikely to get approval during Japan's current parliamentary (Diet)
session, which runs through June. Parliament has given priority to other national security bills that realign U.S. military facilities in Japan and extend the Japanese air force's deployment in Iraq
The secretary quoted Prime Minister Abe as telling the cabinet that the new council would strengthen the prime minister's office in its handling of foreign relations and matters of national security.
