이라크의 누리 알-말리키 총리는 24일 현재 살람 알-조바이 부총리의 생명을 노린 폭탄테러공격에 대한 조사가 진행중이라고 밝혔습니다.
23일 바그다드의 녹색지대내에서 조바이 부총리의 경호원이 자폭하면서 주위에 있던 9명이 사망하고, 조바이 부총리는 중상을 입었습니다.
말리키 총리는 이날 국영 텔레비전방송에서 현재 조사관들이 폭탄 공격범이 어떻게 적발되지 않고 폭발물을 녹색지대 안까지 갖고 들어올 수 있었는지 규명하기 위해 조사를 진행하고 있다고 말했습니다.
이라크의 알리 알-슈마리 보건장관은 조바이 부총리가 파편 제거수술을 받은 후 상태가 회복되고 있다고 밝혔습니다. 알-카에다와 연계된 한 단체는 조바이 부총리에 대한 이번 공격이 자신들의 소행이라고 주장했습니다.
또 다른 소식으로 이날 이라크에서 일련의 자살폭탄 공격으로 30여명이 사망했습니다.
경찰은 남부 바그다드의 수니파들이 주로 거주하는 도라지역 경찰서 인근에서 트럭 폭탄 공격범이 폭탄을 터뜨려 14명의 장교를 포함해 모두 20여명이 사망했다고 밝혔습니다.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says an investigation is under way into Friday's attempt on the life of his deputy prime minister, Salam al-Zobaie.
Nine people were killed and Zobaie was seriously wounded after one of his bodyguards blew himself up at the deputy prime minister's Baghdad compound. One of the minister's brothers and one of his advisers were among the dead.
Speaking on state-run TV today (Saturday), Prime Minister Maliki said investigators are trying to determine how the bomber was able to get his explosives inside Zobaie's compound undetected. He said the attack illustrates how Iraq's enemies are targeting those working for the good of the country.
Iraq's health minister (Ali al-Shummari) says Zobaie is in good condition after undergoing surgery for his injuries. A group linked to al-Qaida (the Islamic State of Iraq) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In other news, suicide bombings today killed more than 30 people across Iraq.
In the deadliest attack, police say a truck bomber killed 20 people, including 14 officers, at a police station in the predominantly Sunni district of Dora in southern Baghdad.
