국제원자력기구 IAEA의 모하메드 엘바라데이 사무총장은 북한은 한반도의 비핵화 약속을 이행할 것이라는 입장을 재확인했다고 말했습니다.
엘바라데이 사무총장은 14일 이틀 일정의 북한 방문을 마친 뒤 중국 베이징에서 가진 기자회견에서 이같이 말했습니다. 엘바라데이 사무총장은 이번 방북은 매우 유용했고 IAEA와 북한간의 관계정상화를 위한 문을 열어줬다고 말했습니다.
엘바라데이 사무총장은 14일 북한의 김영대 최고인민회의 부위원장과 회담한 뒤 평양을 떠났습니다.
이에 앞서, IAEA의 멜리사 플레밍 대변인은 엘바라데이 사무총장이 김계관 외무성 부상과는 만나지 못했다고 말했습니다. 플레밍 대변인은 김 부상은 오는 19일 중국 베이징에서 재개되는 북핵 6자회담 준비를 위한 바쁜 일정때문에 14일로 예정됐던 엘바라데이 사무총장과의 면담을 취소했다고 전했습니다.
엘바라데이 사무총장은 대신 김형준 외무성 부상과 면담했다고 플레밍 대변인은 덧붙였습니다. 엘바라데이 사무총장의 이번 방북은 지난달 체결된 북핵 2.13 합의에 따른 것입니다.

The head of the United Nations nuclear agency has ended a two-day visit to North Korea, saying Pyongyang is committed to removing nuclear weapons from the Korean peninsula.
Mohamed told reporters in Beijing today (Wednesday) that his trip to North Korea was quite useful. He said it helped "clear the air" and open the door to normalizing relations with the reclusive Communist nation.
ElBaradei left Pyongyang after meeting with (Kim Yong Dae) the vice president of the North Korean legislature's standing committee.
A spokeswoman for the International Atomic Energy Agency said North Korea's chief nuclear negotiator, Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Kwan, canceled his meeting with ElBaradei because he was busy preparing for six-nation talks that are set for Monday in Beijing.
She said ElBaradei instead met with another vice foreign minister and the chairman of Pyongyang's atomic energy agency.
ElBaradei's trip was the result of a six-nation deal last month in which North Korea agreed to close its main nuclear complex within 60 days in exchange for aid.
