국제원자력기구인 IAEA는 이란의 협조 거부로 이란의 핵무기 개발 시도 여부를 판단할 수 없는 상황이라고 밝혔습니다.
모하메드 엘바라데이 IAEA 사무총장은 5일 35개국이 참가한 이사회 개막연설에서, 이란 정부가 IAEA에 협조하지 않는한 국제 사회의 우려는 계속될 것이라고 말했습니다.
유엔 산하 핵 기구인 IAEA의 주요 회원국들은 이번주 안으로 이란에 대해서 20여건의 기술 지원 중단을 승인할 예정입니다. 이란 정부는 유엔의 핵 개발 중단 요구를 거부해왔습니다.
한편 미국, 영국, 프랑스, 러시아, 중국 등 유엔안보리 상임이사국 5개국과 독일은 유엔의 우라늄 농축 중단 시한을 무시한 이란에 대해 추가 제재를 가하기 위한 합의 도출 노력을 기울이고 있습니다.

The chief U.N. nuclear inspector says Iran's refusal to cooperate with an investigation by the International Atomic Energy Agency has left the agency unable to determine whether Tehran is trying to develop nuclear weapons.
In opening remarks today (Monday) at a meeting of the 35-nation board of the IAEA, agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei said unless Tehran decides to cooperate with the IAEA, the international community will continue to express concern.
Key members of the U.N. nuclear agency in Vienna are expected this week to approve cuts of more than 20 technical aid projects to Iran, as Tehran defies U.N. demands to suspend its sensitive nuclear work.
Meanwhile, six world powers are still trying to reach consensus on widening sanctions on Iran for its failure to comply with a February 21st U.N. Security Council deadline to suspend uranium enrichment.
