이스라엘 군이 28일 새벽 요르단 강 서안의 제닌 시를 기습 공격해 3명의 팔레스타인 인들을 사살했다고 팔레스타인 경찰이 밝혔습니다.
목격자들은 사살된 무장세력들이 회교 지하드의 지역 지도자들이라고 확인하고, 그 중의 한 명은 부상당하자 이스라엘 군의 한 특공대원이 그의 머리에 총격을 가해 사살했다고 밝혔습니다.
이스라엘 군 당국은 이같은 주장을 부인했습니다.
이에 대한 보복으로 회교 지하드는 이날 가자지구에서 이스라엘을 향해 여러 발의 로케트 포를 발사했습니다. 이로 인해 사상자가 발생했는지는 확인되지 않았습니다.
이스라엘군은 또한 요르단 강 서안 나블루스 시로 이동해 무장세력들을 색출하는 가운데 인구가 조밀한 구시가지에서 통행금지를 실시했습니다.
집권 하마스 출신의 이스마일 하니예 팔레스타인 총리는 이스라엘 군의 작전을 저지하기 위해 국제사회가 개입해 줄 것을 촉구했습니다.

Palestinian security sources say Israeli troops shot and killed three Palestinians during a raid in the West Bank town of Jenin early today (Wednesday).
Witnesses identified the dead militants as local leaders of Islamic Jihad. They said that after one of the militants (Ashraf al-Saadi) was wounded, an Israeli commando shot him in the head to kill him.
The Israeli military denied the account.
Israel says the militants were planning suicide attacks.
Islamic Jihad retaliated by firing several rockets from the Gaza Strip at Israel today. There were no reports of casualties.
Israeli forces also moved back into the West Bank city of Nablus and imposed a curfew on the densely populated Old City section as they searched for militants.
Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, of the ruling Hamas group, called on the international community to intervene to stop the Israeli operations.
