서아프리카 나라 기니에서 계엄령이 선포된 이후 수백명이 체포됐다고 현지 인권운동가들이 전했습니다.
인권운동가들의 이같은 주장은 '서아프리카제국경제공동체' 고위 대표단이 기니의 위기사태 해결을 돕기 위해 기니를 방문하고 있는 가운데 나왔습니다.
이 대표단을 이끌고 있는 이브라힘 바방기다 전 나이지리아 군사 통치자는 서아프리카는 기니가 대혼란 속으로 빠져드는 것을 보기 원치 않는다고 말했습니다.
기니의 란사나 콩테 대통령은 지난 1월부터 시작된 반정부 시위를 종식시키기 위해 계엄령을 선포하고 군에 광범위한 권력을 이양했습니다.
노조와 회담을 재개하기 위한 정부의 이같은 노력에도 불구하고 시위 지도자들은 지난 17일 계엄령이 해제될 때까지 회담을 취소했다고 말했습니다.
지금까지 경찰과 시위자들간 충돌로 백여명이 사망했습니다.

Human rights activists in Guinea say hundreds of people have been arrested in the country since the start of martial law.
The allegations come as a high-level delegation from the West African regional grouping ECOWAS is in the country to help resolve the crisis.
The head of the team -- Nigeria's former military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida -- said the region does not want to see Guinea descend into chaos. Guinean President Lansana Conte has imposed martial law and handed the military broad powers to end anti-government protests that began in January.
Despite efforts by the government to resume talks with the unions, protest leaders said Saturday they have canceled talks until martial law is lifted.
More than 100 people have been killed in clashes between police and demonstrators.
