인도네시아는 16일 개발도상국들이 입수 가능한 백신에 똑같이 접근한다는 조건으로 조류독감 바이러스 표본을 공유하는데 동의했습니다.
이번 발표는 15일 자카르타에서 세계보건기구의 데이빗 헤이만 전염병국장과 인도네시아의 보건장관 등 관리들과의 회의 후에 나왔습니다.
관리들은 아시아태평양지역에서 선정된 국가들은 오는 3월에 회의를 갖고, 최근 몇 개 국가에서 개발한 백신에 똑같이 접근하는 것을 보장하는 방법을 모색할 것이라고 말했습니다. 지난 주에 인도네시아는 조류독감 표본을 상업용으로 이용하지 않는데 동의하는 국가에 한해 조류독감 표본을 공유하겠다고 발표해 논란을 불러일으켰었습니다.
인도네시아는 지금까지 조류독감으로 모두 60여명이 사망해 세계에서 가장 많은 조류독감 사망자를 기록하고 있습니다.

Indonesia has agreed to resume sharing bird flu virus samples on the condition that developing countries will have equal access to an affordable vaccine.
The announcement came today (Thursday) after a meeting in Jakarta between World Health Organization official David Heymann, Indonesia's health minister and other officials.
Officials said that select countries in the Asia and Pacific region will meet in March to help find a way to ensure equal access to a vaccine, currently being developed by several nations.
Jakarta triggered a storm of controversy last week when it said it would only share its samples of bird flu with parties who agree not to use them for commercial gain.
Indonesia has had the highest death toll from the disease, with more than 60 fatalities.
