파키스탄은 아프가니스탄 난민 24만 명이 머물고 있는 파키스탄내 난민촌 네 곳을 6개월 안에 폐쇄한다고 파키스탄이 발표했습니다.
파키스탄은 7일, 수도 이슬라마바드에서 파키스탄, 아프가니스탄 각료들이 유엔 난민고등판무관실 관계관들과 회담을 마친뒤 이같이 난민촌 폐쇄계획을 발표했습니다. 파키스탄에 있는 아프가니스탄 난민수는 2백 여만 명에 달합니다.
파키스탄의 샤우카트 아지즈 총리는 지난 주 북대서양조약기구, 나토와 유럽연합 관계관들에게 아프가니스탄에 인접한 파키스탄 국경지역을 따라 설치돼 있는 난민촌들이 테러리스트들의 은신처와 테러분자 모집 근거지가 되고 있다고 밝히고 파키스탄내 아프가니스탄 난민들을 귀환시키기 위해 유럽연합의 지원이 필요하다고 말했습니다.

Pakistan officials say they will close four camps holding 240-thousand refugees from Afghanistan within about six months.
The announcement was made after Pakistani and Afghan ministers met with United Nations High Commission for Refugees officials in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, today (Wednesday).
More than two million Afghan refugees currently live in camps in Pakistan.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz told NATO and European Union officials last week that the refugee camps along the border with Afghanistan provide recruiting grounds and safe havens for terrorists. He said he needs European help in repatriating the people who live in the camps.
