Egyptian officials say a teenage girl has died from the H5N1 bird flu, the country's 12th death from the disease since it was first detected there a year ago.
The Middle East News Agency (MENA) identified the victim as a 17-year-old from Fayoum, south of Cairo.
Elsewhere, Hong Kong and South Korea have joined a list of countries imposing bans on British poultry following the country's first outbreak of the deadly strain.
The outbreak was discovered on a farm in eastern England run by Europe's largest turkey producer (Bernad Matthews). Russia and Japan have also imposed bans on British poultry.
Authorities slaughtered about 160-thousand turkeys as a precaution and imposed an exclusion zone around the farm.
British officials call the risk to human health negligible and say the government's response was rapid and appropriate.
Bird flu has killed at least 165 people worldwide since 2003.
